Coconut and The Principle of Life



We call these trees bhungkana nyeor. It's thin and high rod evenly spread at all Madura coastal region . You can proved it by traveling around the island, and see how the tress dominate your vision. Caused by suitable soil and climate, coconut grows in it's maximum capacity.

Every part of the plant useful for human life, especially at Madura culture. Therefore they love it very much, with all of their hearth. It's leaves, rod, root and of course fruits, every single part of every individual species (Cocos nucifera) cannot be wasted. 


Closed relation between Maduras people and bhungkana nyeor draws upon how they used the tress as symbol of their principles of life. Maduras people wish their self can be as coconut, which survive in extreme condition. Moreover, still like the tress, they want to be useful in their family and society. The Maduras is one of great nomads in the world. They keep brotherhood every where they lived in.

Fishing Boat (parao majhang)



Fishing boat (maduras: parao majhang) is a common object we'll found on the sea water when we travels beach region of Madura. Not too big, because it have to "play" on sea waves when the owner try to catch a lot of fish. Usually have a pair of sails which catching wind to push the boat more powerful. 

Not all sailor have a boat. The expensive material of boat causing only middle or upper class sailor can bought it. While the lower class sailor (labor sailor)  plays as daily worker who ride the boat and catch lot of fish and then paid by the owner.

Maduras people was one of the most famous sailor of Indonesian archipelago. By this traditional boat, every one of them conquer the sea. They knew where the "flat" region and where the dangerous one. By the time, modern technology taking over conqueror position of the sea. Nowadays almost every day our oceans robbed by big stranger modern boats.
