Batik is a cloth with unique image made by wax-resist dyeing technique. Tradition of making batik not just found in Madura, but also in various Indonesian areas. The differences between those products usually on the images and colors. Batik Madura characterized by natural image and contrast-flashy colors.
There are many places producing batik in madura, but just a few popular places still exist for a long time. It's including Tanjung Bumi (Bangkalan regency), Proppo (Pamekasan regency) and Pakandangan (Sumenep regency). Each place has it's own character, but still keep the natural image and contrast-flashy colors.
Madura people love to use batik for many necessity like ceremonial event or informal trip. We can see some products with batik as basic material as clothes, selendang, bag and cover. Nowadays batik Madura not only as local culture, it's become national art and pride.
